My Two Best Presents
We all received a lot of very generous presents this year. Our kids are VERY lucky to have so many people who love them so much that they don't want for ANYthing. As we entered December, and I realized "buying" was about last on my list of to-do's, I realized how very important everything else was - spending time with family, treasuring every laugh.
After the month we just experienced, I couldn't help but pause when I saw my kids, un-prompted, walking around like this. It once again made me realize what our TRUE gifts are. Sorry for the cheesy sentiment, but, c'mon - look at them ~ That's God talking.

Santa
2008 - Melanie & Molly got their picture taken on Santa's lap
2009 - We stood in line and Melanie chickened out at the last minute
2010 - Joey got his picture on Santa's lap - Mel wanted nothing to do with him
2011 - I got a picture with BOTH my kids on Santa's lap. Soon I will have the "professional" photo electronically - but here you can see my mother-in-law's view. Notice how I reaaaaally wanted out of the photo.

| A close-up; I had to include both - one to show the context, one zoomed in on how "out" she was. This continued through dinner |

| Getting ready to head to the hospital after dinner - you can't see them well, but we're all wearing matching scarves - Julie's is gray, mine black, Mom's white - that "Mom" got us for Christmas. |

After we got the chaos of Christmas morning cleaned up, Gma and Papa Worzala got to the house. Round Two of present chaos! Needless to say, apparently our kids made their "good list" this year!
Once we got that cleaned up, it was time for Round Three - Julie, Molly, and Gigi arrived!
We all had dinner that was delivered via Heavenly Ham, served on paper plates. My friends Erika Brown, Laura & Ali Mullen, and Amy Norrod pitched in and literally sent us our Christmas dinner! It was fabulous, and required no one to cook with everything else going on with Dad. I have great friends!
Despite the noticeable absence on Christmas Day, we had a truly blessed holiday. God is good, and Christmas was a great time to reflect on that. We enjoyed the weekend with all of our family!
Christmas Eve with all of the cousins!

Jesus' Birthday Cupcakes
Our tradition is to make birthday cupcakes for Jesus on Christmas Eve, and this is what we leave out for Santa Clause. Melanie's addition to this was to put his milk in a "Happy Birthday" coffee mug. Who wouldn't make cupcakes on Christmas Eve in their bathing suit??
Dad Update
Jeff's mom got to town on Wednesday, December 14, to help us during Dad's surgery, which was December 15. While we joked about the fact she was in town for 12 days (geez, is she ever leaving??) - we are extremely grateful for her and Ron's support of our family, as well as Cory & Randy's (Randy was in India for the week leading up to Christmas!!) We are looking forward to having their help in town year-round starting this summer!
I haven't posted much about my Dad on this blog. If you haven't already, you're welcome to read those updates on the separate site I have set up ---> http://www.caringbridge.org/visit/joedoan. While the website requires a username/password, Dad's particular information is not password-protected. This site has been set up for one week, and already has 700 visits and over 100 guestbook entries! We are so grateful and humbled for all of the prayers and friendship we have witnessed over the last month.

Attempt at Christmas Pictures
New Christmas Dress for Melanie that she refused to wear, opting instead for last year's dress.
Can of Pam that is in the best picture of the two of them.
Melanie claiming her hand-me-down shirt from Grace that features a deer-hunting theme is her "reindeer shirt"
Joey's crazy-red cheeks.
The equivalent of a roll of film, with no viable Christmas card photos....
