Sunday School

I have avoided for too long what I thought was going to be a battle.  Everytime I discussed Sunday School with Melanie, she insisted that Mommy had to stay with her in the classroom (I have to volunteer in the classroom every couple of months - one week i was even "lead teacher!"  Yikes!)  So, rather than fight the battle, we have divided and conquered on Sunday mornings; Jeff would stay home with a napping Joey while Mel would sit in the sanctuary with me, or Jeff would stay home with Melanie while Joey went to the nursery and I would sit through service (note where Jeff is in each of these scenarios - ha!)

Two weeks ago, we decided to move past this, and send both the kids to their respective classrooms and pray for the best.  Yes, there was a bribe of a sprinkle donut involved....But now, two weeks into it, we have had two successful drop-offs, Mel is very proud of herself afterwards for not crying, and she is really having fun!

She's learning even more "Sunday School songs" as she calls them....She is in the practice of singing multiple songs for us every night.  These include the song her class is singing for the upcoming daycare spring fling, but the volume of work has extended to the B-I-B-L-E, He's Got the Whole World in His Hands, a few I don't recognize (Jesus is my rock, and he's going to roll my blues away?), Thank You God for Making Me, among others.  She leads us in prayer every night before dinner ("God is great, and we thank him for this food.  By his hands 'will all' are fed, give us 'Lall' our daily 'bref'")  She curls up with her Bible and reads us stories, and in the picture above, she is reading stories to Joey before we go to church.
