Swimming

Of the last 14 days, we've spent approximately 9-10 of them in the water.   Mostly in our subdivision pool, but also at various friends' and families'.  Mel got to swim with bigger kids like friends Ethan & Lily, and with Wyatt.  She has been making huge strides in what she's doing.  She now jumps off the side without having to hold onto our hands (usually not even waiting until we're ready for her to jump), she lets us "let go" and have her "swim" by herself, which involves being totally submerged (just need to work on having her actually move her arms and legs!)  She generally starts out with her water wings or swim vest, but quickly sheds the safety net and swims on her own.  She hasn't had real lessons yet (just the lesson or two I took her to when she first turned one), but I think the repeated exposure has done a lot for her confidence in the water!  Since I'm usually in the water WITH her, I haven't gotten a lot of good pictures, but the above shows her dressed and ready to head to the pool, and playing in her backyard pool.  The backyard pool generally gets a half-day action on the weekends while the other half-day is in the big pool.

Joey has also been enjoying the water.  His main attraction is trying to take bites out of the "noodle"s and being fascinated by his shrively fingers.
